And we’ve found ourselves a writer!

Good day everyone and welcome back to Firstgamedevelopment!

I’ve been busy talking to people who’ve emailed me, offering their help, all week long. And I’m still not done. The amount of people interested in helping has been totally overwhelming so far. Once more, I would like to thank everyone for contacting me.

Today, I’ve been studying. A lot. Why? Well, if you would just take a quick look to the right. You might have to scroll down a bit. If you are reading this today, you’ll see a big “1”. I have my first exam tomorrow and I haven’t been this nervous for a long, long time. When I got home from work, I started studying and even now, while I’m on a break, I can’t stop thinking about it!

I do try though. And I have a pretty good reason to. Why?

Because it is time to announce the next member of our development team! His name is Aaron and he’s from the UK. He’s a Software Engineer looking for experience in developing games. He’ll help us out with the plot, dialogue and grammar! He’s a very welcome addition to the team and I’m sure we’ll get along just fine! If you want to know more about Aaron, please visit the ”Development Team” page. It’s just the “People behind the game” page, but I decided to rename it.

Besides that, I’ve added some information to the FAQ page after receiving a question.

That’s it for today. I’ll keep you updated on any information concerning the game or my exam!

Thanks for reading!

Dave

Quick update!

Hello everyone and welcome back to Firstgamedevelopment!

I thought you’d might like an update on how things are going right now. Let me sum it all up.

  1. After starting some threads on numerous websites, asking people to join my development team, I received a lot of emails. I never really thought I would receive that many! So currently, I’m mostly talking to people, informing people and meeting people, which is great! Thanks everyone for contacting me! If you think you’d make a great addition to the team, please visit the “Become a developer TODAY!” page to find out more.
  2. Besides talking to people, not much has happend yet. We’re still planning on starting on the graphics, but so far we’ve been quite busy. They will be coming together soon though.
  3. I still haven’t thought of a good name for the development team yet. If you have a suggestion, please, do not hesitate to let me know!
  4. Oh, yesterday an idea for another game struck me. So I’m still figuring that one out. Nothing too serious so far, but I just like to think forward: I need to expand my (still empty) portfolio! I might start another blog on the side for that game, so keep an eye out!

That should pretty much cover it for today. As soon as there is more information available, you’ll be the first to know!

Thanks once more and I hope to see you all again soon!

Welcome our new graphic designer!

Good day everyone and welcome to another post on the firstgamedevelopment blog!

Today I am back with some very exciting news! I’ve gotten in contact with a couple of people who replied to my posts on sites all over the internet, in which I was asking for people to join my development team. And today, me and one of the first ones to reply on one of my posts, Daan Wesselius, decided that he will join the development team!

I hereby would very much like to welcome Daan to the team!

The funny thing about Daan is that he happens to be Dutch, just like me, and actually lives just about 20 minutes away!

Having all this said, some information about Daan will be added to the “People behind the game” page. Besides Daan’s, I’ve receive other emails of people who would like to join the team, some of them being programmers, some of them being graphic designers. I’m still talking with some of them and I can barely wait to welcome more people to the team!

Me and Daan will start working on the first graphics of the game soon. We decided to go with an isometric pixel art style. We will surely post examples of our work when we finish some of it, so keep an eye out!

Before I forget: I’m still looking for a good name for our development team. Do you have a suggestion? Don’t hesitate to let me know! You can comment on this post or send your suggestion to firstgamedevelopment@gmail.com

Having all this said, I would like to thank everyone who sent me an email! If YOU are interested in joining me and Daan in the development team, please visit the “Become a developer TODAY!” page for more information on the subject.

Thank you all for reading and I hope to welcome you back to the firstgamedevelopment blog soon!

Game development team

Hello everyone and welcome back to firstgamedevelopment!

This post will be a short one for a change! I’ll just give you a brief description on what’s up at the moment. I have a feeling this won’t be my best post yet, but you know. We’ll see.

Today, I started posting on multiple forums, looking for people to join my development team. I’m still looking for more forums and sites to post on, so if you know any, let me know!

Besides that, I’ve started working on the first graphics and so far, I’m pretty content with my work. I’ll post some examples as soon as I finish making them!

I also started thinking about the name of the development team I’m looking to create. Do you guys have any ideas on a name?

If you are interested in helping me out, by helping me write the story, create graphics, write music or anything related? Please visit the “Become a developer TODAY!” page!

That is pretty much it. Not much more going on at the moment! More information coming soon!

Thanks for reading and I hope you’ll have a wonderful day!

Announcing the game title

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!

I am here today with some great news: I will be announcing the title of the game I’ve been telling you about!

But before I get to that, I would like to talk about my general vision on the future of this imaginary world I’m working on (which does not have a name as of yet now that I think of it). I’m not just writing all this story and content for only one game. So far I believe I’ve written about 10 pages of storyline, without even a single word of dialogue included. Besides the plot and characters, I’ve started working on some graphics that might be included in the game. I’m still trying to figure out what I want exactly, but I feel like I’m getting somewhere. As soon as I finish something worth showing you, I will.

The idea is to make this imaginary world a base for many things. Some things might be a bit too ambitious, but worth mentioning nonetheless. Some of my ideas include:

  1. Creating a game.
Obviously. This will be the game you’ve been reading about on this blog. As you might have read, the game is in full development and more details and information will be coming out regularly.
  2. Creating a trilogy.
This is the somewhat bigger picture. It would be awesome to make this game the first part to a series.
  3. Creating an online game.
Currently, this might be a bit too ambitious. But it surely is something I’m considering doing eventually.
  4. Creating merchandise
Posters, T-Shirts, Stickers, you know. I’m absolutely not doing all this for the cash, but just the thought of having your own merchandise is awesome. However, this is something that’s not happening soon.

And these 4 things are just a couple of things that are on my mind. There is more. A lot more. I just thought you’d might like a general idea of where this is going.

I feel like it is time to announce the title of the first game. And this is exactly what I’ll do.

The game will be called “Road to Recuperation” (or RtR for short). The name of the game came to be when I wrote the idea for the Recuperation Council (See the page “Game Plot” for more information). I thought it fitted nicely with the main goal of the game and I hope you do too!

I would like to end this post by also announcing another page that I’ll add to the blog today, called “Become a developer today!”, where I will post the things you’ll need to do to become co-developer of the game. From now on, I’ll no longer ask you for your help in every post, but instead, refer you to the “Become a developer today!” page.

Having all this said, I hope you’ll have a fantastic Wednesday and I hope to welcome you back later!

Dave
